Wellness Wednesday- Metabolic Health
Happy Wellness Wednesday!!! Did Shawn Stevenson blow your mind last week? Did Erik Young make you think about fat loss in a different way? Well, this week we are going to dive even deeper. I wanted to feature a second interview with Shawn Stevenson by Ed Mylet. I think his interview dives deeper with Shawn Stevenson, but the information is communicated in a different way and talks about the importance of DHA. For sure, worth a listen!
Next, I wanted us to focus on our Metabolic Health. I feel like we work out, and look at how much fat and carbohydrates we eat but don’t look deeper to other fine details like insulin and metabolism. We say, “I have a slow metabolism” or “ a fast metabolism” but I don't think we actually know what that means. People are extremely thin and eat all the time and don’t understand why. Some put on fat so quickly and don’t understand either. Do you ever bonk in a workout and don’t understand why? So today we are going to learn.
The interviewer is Sonya Looney, a Plant-Based World Champion ultra endurance mountain biker. Through her life experiences and wanting to be Plant-Based she has met and sought out experts for information to keep her tip top and performing at her best. In this podcast you will see the caliber of people she interviews is on another level of accurate and researched. Sonya interviews Stanford MD-Casey Means. She is also the co-founder and Chef Medical Officer of pioneering digital health startup Levels Health. Dr. Casey Means speaks to us about how insulin effects us all not just people that are diabetic. She goes deep in what is Metabolic Health and why it is so important to everyone. Lastly, she discusses the company she helped to develop called Level Health which is a app and a Glucose monitoring system for Athletes, anyone wanting to learn more about how their body works and anyone that is having problems with loosing fat and or gaining muscle.
We end with a podcast on Shawn Stevenson’s own podcast called The Model Health Show. He interviews Dr. Jade Teta about how your Metabolism works, and how you can learn about your individual Metabolic process. I wanted to included this interview because everyone communicates hard to understand processes in their own way and between Dr. Jade Teta and Dr. Casey Means you are bound to have a full understanding. Each Doctor brings something different to the table and many other nuggets of knowledge that are quite eye opening to learn about.
